General purpose tank division (5 base tanks + 5 motorized) - Consider adding radio + maintenance company. 3 mountaineer divisions can attack from 3 separate directions into mountains, or 2 from 1 or 2 directions. Similar to the above, except that mountains and hills have restricted combat width. Offensive Anti-tank (4 infantry, 8 anti-tank). Similar support companies to the above division. Early game use to establish breakthrough. These are really good at doing lots of damage against opposing infantry units. Offensive infantry/artillery (4 infantry, 4 artillery). (Excess, because the AI will reinforce parts of the line that are under attack, or seal off enveloped units after breakthrough/exploitation) Try to get at least 1.5 divisions per potential area on the front. Use these guys to provide the bulk of your front lines. Other companies you should consider are field hospitals, and logistics. If you don't have many strong offensive divisions, consider adding artillery. The support companies recon and engineers are really good. In general, for making units, I usually like having something along the lines of the following.įront line infantry. 9 combat battalions in 3x3, or 5+4 formation have the same stats and combat effectiveness. Having nice blocks really only matters for visual appeal. It's great for the main unit of your lines. Infantry is super cheap to build, and has lots of HP. Noticeable exception is that you want the front line infantry armies to have a width of 18 or 19. (There are a few exceptions based on tech, commanding General & anticipated terrain) A division will join the battle as long as there is free Frontage/width available. This is because combat width in most terrain starts with 80 and gets added in chunks of 20. It's best to try to design your divisions to get as close to a width of 10, 20 or 40 as possible.
